On target for completion in 2011, the Queen Elizabeth hospital will be the UK's largest hospital outside London. With a 1,100-bed acute hospital and 4 mental health units, the hospital will be a centre of excellence in patient care, education and research.

Throughout the build, Hattersley's Fig. 1900 have been installed, providing the hospital with self-balancing, thermostatically controlled regulation of flow and thermal disinfection, assisting with protection against legionella.
